1. Achilles Tendinitis

This is inflammation of the Achilles tendon—the thick band that connects your calf muscles to the heel bone. It typically occurs due to overuse, especially in runners or after a sudden increase in activity.


2. Haglund’s Deformity

Also called “pump bump,” it’s a bony enlargement at the back of the heel that can rub against shoes and cause pain, redness, and swelling.


3. Retrocalcaneal Bursitis

The small fluid-filled sac (bursa) near the Achilles tendon can become inflamed due to repetitive stress, tight footwear, or poor foot alignment.


4. Sever’s Disease (in Children & Teens)

Seen in growing children, especially those active in sports, this condition involves inflammation of the growth plate in the heel.


5. Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy

This involves degeneration or damage where the Achilles tendon inserts into the heel bone, often seen in middle-aged individuals and may be accompanied by calcification.



Solutions and Treatment Options


🔹 Rest and Ice – Reduce inflammation by resting and applying ice to the area.

🔹 Proper Footwear – Avoid tight shoes and opt for cushioned soles or heel lifts.

🔹 Stretching Exercises – Calf stretches and eccentric loading exercises can help improve tendon health.

🔹 Physical Therapy – Guided rehab programs can address biomechanical issues.

🔹 Orthotics – Custom insoles may help correct foot alignment and offload pressure.

🔹 Medical Treatment – In stubborn cases, anti-inflammatory medications, shockwave therapy, or PRP injections may be advised.

🔹 Surgery – Reserved for severe or chronic cases not responding to conservative care.
